lyrics
Two hearts always break in a crooked line
You can say you’re sorry but it still hurts every time
They keep saying, “Son, it’ll be alright”
But hands on the clock and tears on the page don’t lie
Cause the drugs don’t work
When you feel this bad
There’s no lighthouse in the distance
When you’re this far out from home
I wish I would’ve known
I wish I would have known that
When you give your heart to someone
You might never get it back 2x
Two smiles stay the same but a picture hides
No postcard from the future that could ever change your mind
They keep saying, “Girl, just live your life”
But just because they say it doesn’t mean that they are right
Cause the time will come
When the lights go down
And the drugs won’t work
And the silence isn’t peaceful
It reminds you that you’re alone
You wish I would’ve known
You wish I would have known that
When you give your heart to someone
You might never get it back 2x

it's such a beautiful album of grieving and loss and acceptance. it speaks to a particular kind of grief -- not a grieving of one who is lost, but the grieving for one who is still present and still causing pain. i love the last song most because while it could end in pain, or end with the narrators decision to permanently push this person out of their life and that would be justified, it doesn't. instead, it offers something. what is offered? acceptance. hope. and a chance for redemption janmisha
