lyrics
Last night
I could tell that you were listening
I could tell that you were wishing
You were older
And it breaks my heart
Oh, ‘cause I hope you can find a way of living
You can find your own forgiveness
So when you fall
You don’t fall far
‘Cause I don’t want you to follow me down those
Same crooked roads to the same old places
I just want you to
Go your own way
You don’t have to chase down the same dreams I did
A heart like yours is hard to break
So go and make your own mistakes
Last night
I was painting you a picture
And I’m not proud of those decisions
But you needed to know the truth
Just ‘cause they’re mine
You don’t have to take ‘em with you
You’ll come across them if you’re meant to
I hope you just walk on by
Oh, you can make your own mistakes
Take as long as you take
A heart like yours is bound to break
So go and make your own mistakes

it's such a beautiful album of grieving and loss and acceptance. it speaks to a particular kind of grief -- not a grieving of one who is lost, but the grieving for one who is still present and still causing pain. i love the last song most because while it could end in pain, or end with the narrators decision to permanently push this person out of their life and that would be justified, it doesn't. instead, it offers something. what is offered? acceptance. hope. and a chance for redemption janmisha
Terry Venemous is releasing new music every 3 weeks this year. His latest EP is sumptuous art pop with a wry sense of detachment.
